Challenge star trail, the moon was so bright you could literally read by it.

My favorite ruin.
Chaco
Old stomping grounds.
Stacking gold, this time withe Nex 7 and the 30mm macro. 25 shots.
It was very hot and dry hike
On the way to Balu Pass
This from playing with the Sony Nex and the 30mm macro lens

Where is this place? Think of bright angels.
I'm on a ruin kick the last couple of days!
When it was hot windy or cold can you think of a better place to be? These people were ahead of their time when it comes to housing. Now for the photo part, this is DXO Optics Pro 8 as the intermediary.
I admit a deep fascination and love for old ruins.
Remember this is a beginners photo blog and beginners use what they have on hand. In this case I'm putting into service a 25 year old Bausch & Lomb Criterion telescope but I'm adding in a Kenko 1.4 teleconverter to get just a little more reach. I'm satisfied considering this moon was dropping fast plus its great getting this vintage mirror lens out of the closet.
So what is Glechoma hederacea? Who cares right? This is a photo blog and not a course in botany. The goal here is to take a boring mundane plant and zip it off the whicket....that is make it so you can actually touch it in this picture. It's also an opportunity to use Topaz Deluxe and Nik to bring the .raw to life :)
This is the north arch of the Big South Forks Twin Arches. It's also a great opportunity to play with DXO Optics 8 software.
We love to explore but sometimes it's in the backyard.
This past weekend we spent four days in the Big South Fork on the 2012 Reunion Hike and Hang.
This was a cold winter morning hike with the canyon to ourselves.
It took 20 minutes of creeping to get this shot.
Had a flashback to Zion National park and the hike to Angels Rest.
How do you take a boring pic of a water tower and wake it up?
Can you believe this is an HDR! There is such a huge range/continuum of HDR photography, from the surreal to the sublime. I think I like those that have just a dusting of fantasy with a heavy dose of reality.
Working with the SAL70400 but with a 1.4 teleconverter...not bad but don't you wonder what's on the dark side?
This is one of my all time favorite pictures. It has many flaws that Photoshop could easily correct but I like it the way it is.
Shot this butterfly on the Mount Sterling loop hike in GSMNP. So kind he posed for the picture.
